Thanksgiving

I am thankful for many things, but more than anything else, I am thankful to be an American.

I am thankful that I live in a nation which, by any measure, is the greatest in history. We are freer, wealthier and healthier and better educated than any other civilization, past or present. As an American I have unlimited opportunity for financial and intellectual improvement. If I get sick, I have access to the best medical care on earth. My food is clean and safe. When I go on vacation, I have an endless choice of scenic and historical wonders within my own borders and I can travel freely from place to place.

Three quarters of the rest of the world is a festering stinkhole and most of human history is a tale of impossible struggle under miserable living conditions. Of all the times and places to be born, I am blessed to be here and now.
