This Independence Day weekend is a great time to think about all those people who have served and sacrificed to make sure we stay independent.
I know we’ve got Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day, but I also like to think about my mom and dad on Independence Day; 4th of July; but I prefer the other name for it: Independence Day. You see, my dad was awfully independent; so was my mom. They were they were not free thinkers, they were conservatives, and the fact is both of them served in the United States Navy. And I always honor that sacrifice on Veterans Day and Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
Don’t just go out and have a hot dog on the 4th of July, don’t just enjoy a ball game or the fireworks. Think about the people who had to keep this country free, and think about the founding principles of those who declared our independence and made us the country we are today.
