The calls police get on Christmas day

It was disheartening to hear the tales from my police officer friend who often works on Christmas Day. I asked him what kind of emergency calls he received. The cop told me that they are all domestic disturbances.

Having relatives who never see each other all year with pent up feelings and flowing alcohol often creates a family disaster. The officer told me that even simple things such as not liking how one responded to the opening of another’s present can be enough spark to enflame family violence.

The people who suffer most are the children. Having to haul off family members to jail while their crying children fall apart at the sight is a Christmas scene that wears heavy on many police officers.

So I offer special thanks and blessings to all emergency personal that have to work Christmas. You have my deepest appreciation.
