Ralph Nader and Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist jointly signed a letter last July asking governors to bring more openness “to governmental expenditures.” As a start, this means putting detailed, easy to understand, easily searchable budgets online. Numerous state governments have embarked down this path. Local governments, including school districts, should follow suit. How transparent is Oregon government? Look online. Then, start contacting your elected representatives and request more openness in Oregon government.
