97% of contributors from Oregon; 99% of contributions from individuals

BEAVERTON, OR ‐‐ Yesterday, the Cornilles for Congress campaign announced that it raised more than $500,000 in less than two months. Cornilles, a small business owner from Tualatin, is running in the special election to fill the vacant seat in Oregon’s First Congressional District.

More than 900 individual donors contributed to the Cornilles campaign, with 97 percent of those donors coming from Oregon. All told, the campaign raised $505,467. Individual donors accounted for 99 percent of the contributions.

The contributions were raised in just eight weeks, between the campaign’s August 4 launch and September 30, the end of the most recent fundraising period.

“This incredible outpouring of local support is a strong validation of what I’m hearing every day: Northwest Oregon voters want new thinking in Washington, not more of the same,” Cornilles said. “They are tired of politicians who rubber stamp partisan agendas or waffle on issues important to Oregon. I will go to Washington and give First District voters the kind of representation they deserve.”
