Oregonians vote conservative on local tax measures

School Measures failed: School tax measures on the ballot failed in Beaverton, Myrtle Point and Culver. (article). After the defeat of Portland’s half-billion school bond last May and Eugene’s defeated income tax also last May, may reveal a trend in voters exhausted of the always tax answer to government’s budget problems.

Voter control of urban renewal wins:The voter led urban renewal reform, Measure 3-386 led by 70% to 29%. The politician led measure (Measure 388) which tried to undermine the citizen effort, trailed by 63% to 36%. Now voters will have a say in how the county spends its tax dollars and debt on urban renewal projects.
