The conference cost the taxpayer, at the very least, $22,140 which was paid directly to our reps and senators. That’s two days per diem for the entire legislative body. It’s not even including other costs associated with extending the session at least another two days.

Do you think that our elected officials should decline that per diem? Should just the republican office holders who attended Dorchester decline? Should the Republican party reimburse the State for this added cost? Would you feel any different if the Democrats had all left town for two days for a party conference and delayed state business?

First, Dorchester IS NOT an officially sponsored event of the Oregon Republican Party. Dorchester is a private event and has always maintained that autonomy. So, please tell me why the Republican Party should reimburse any entity for anything…other than your general hatred of anything to the right of Joseph Stalin.

Second, I don’t know where you get the idea that the legislators who attend Dorchester get paid a per diem. Furthermore, figuring per diem for the “entire legislative body” is just foolish since very few Democrats attend and even every Republican legislator doesn’t attend.

And, the Democrats do have a similar conference. So, your bluster is showing on that point as well.

I would have been grateful if the Democrats left town for good and I could even entertain providing a stipend for them to do so. In the long run it would save the working population of this state big bucks. I hope you put your recommendation forward. thanks

      Pretty funny….

Not sure what recommendation of mine you’re talking about. But nicely done in avoiding the question.

Nice to see Dorchester going green by recycling the same lame issues over and over and over again.
