Portland — Americans for Prosperity — Oregon State Director Jeff Kropf today announced details of the organization’s upcoming “High Cost of Hot Air Tour” stop in Aurora. Designed to call attention to the huge economic costs being proposed in Congress and the States to combat “global warming,” the Hot Air Tour has visited 16 states and the District of Columbia thus far. The Tour features a 70-foot tall hot air balloon in which local residents are given free rides.
“Oregonians deserve to know what Al Gore and the Congress have in store for them,” Kropf said. “If “˜Cap and Trade’ schemes similar to those that are already proven failures in Europe are implemented in the United States, Oregonians can expect to lose over 100,000 jobs, and pay significantly more in taxes and energy costs. With gas already around $4 per gallon, and families struggling to pay their bills in Oregon’s weak economy, higher energy costs and more taxes is the last thing we need.”

State Senator Bruce Starr and State Representative Linda Flores will be the featured speakers at the Hot Air Tour stop in Aurora. Kropf will discuss the high economic cost Oregonians will pay under federal and state plans to increase taxes and energy prices in response to global warming. Attendees can enjoy rides in the hot air balloon (weather and wind permitting). The event will be family friendly.

The Portland stop of the Hot Air Tour will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the Haener Farm in Aurora from 6:00 — 8:00 pm. The property is located at 12433 Arndt Road SE in Aurora. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to visit www.hotairtour.org to register — the first 50 who register will receive free limited edition “Hot Air Tour” t-shirts.
