235 Statesman Journal Staff on furlough. Poll shows internet beats newspapers

235 Statesman Journal employees will be taking a week of unpaid leave as part of a cost-cutting plan by their publisher Gannett which operates 85 newspapers in America. These measures will begin March (link here).

Further bad news for newspapers, last month Pew Research poll found that the internet beat newspapers as preferred source of where they get their news (40% internet, 35% newspaper). That was a 24% jump in one year.
