20 taxpayer tea parties are planned for April 15th all across Oregon and by numerous political organizations. The two big ones are at the State Capitol steps (11:00-2:00pm) and Portland (6:00pm). A short list is provided but for more details visit Geoffrey Ludt’s great compilation site.

Salem- Big Capitol Steps Rally: April 15, 11:00am – 2:00pm,Steps of the Oregon State Capital Building. Speakers = Senate Republican Leader Ted Ferrioli, Senator Larry George, Senator Jason Atkinson, House Republican Leader Bruce Hanna, Representative Matt Wingard, Russ Walker of FreedomWorks, and Jason Williams of the Taxpayer Association of Oregon. Portland, April 15, 6:00pm – 8:10pm. Pioneer Courthouse Square. Portland Tea Party participants are encouraged to begin gathering in Pioneer Courthouse Square at 5:00 pm on April 15. The event will kick off at 6:00 pm, and will feature speakers, music and a rally. At 7:15, the group will march to Waterfront Park for a tea ceremony. At 7:52, the group will march back to Pioneer Courthouse Square for final remarks. Big hosts: Americans for Prosperity and Victoria Taft (see here)

    This is an absolute waste of time y’all. I agree 100% with the disgust with the policies and tax increases being protested but these Tea Parties are nothing but a big waste of time & money ’cause they’ll be forgotten before Memorial Day.

    Just ask Vickie Taft how effective all of her past schemes have worked out. For example, Bill Bradbury finished his term, no sanctions or investigations into voter registrations/elections, and Billy Boy’s gonna be the next Governor. Why?

    Because you folks keep wasting your time with this stuff (tea parties, etc.)

    12% unemployment in Oregon. You folks should be bashing the heads in of every damned Democrat in Salem. You’ve got to start being mean or you’re just going to be laughed at for having these prissy “parties”.

        Now that I’ve stopped laughing, let me say you’ve just exhibited that you haven’t got a clue. Go carry your sign and make noise and I assure you that the mainstream media won’t give you more than 30 seconds of coverage. Easily a forgettable moment in time.
        I’m mad too, but not gonna waste my time with theatrics and cheap stunts to gain attention for issues so serious that require more thoughtful and concise action.

          You wanted serious action? Then why didn’t you step up during each of the last two elections and actually get stuff done? I did. And what happened? You helped elect a supermajority of MORONS! THAT is what you did.

          This, the tea party and other demonstrations, are my way of voicing my displeasure with how things have gone. This is the only avenue I have left! You say to be mean with people, but how can one be mean when THEY’RE NOT EVEN GOD DAMN LISTENING TO YOU?!

          That’s your problem. You think that confronting them directly is going to do us any good. It won’t. In fact, by doing that, things get made WORSE.

          You call for action, yet decry those who actually take action on their own. YOU are the reason why we have had over 20 years of Democrats making our lives hell. YOU are the reason why we had people like Kevin Mannix and Ron Saxton running for governor. And it is people like you who will be left behind when we finally get some action happening in Salem.

          I’m through taking crap from people like you. Next time I see you, I won’t be so charitable.
