Tax Day Rally overflows Capitol Steps

Here are some quick pictures fresh from the Tax Day Rally at the State Capitol (more will be coming). It is estimated up to 2,000 people packed the capitol front steps. Speakers included Russ Walker of FreedomWorks (chief organizer), Jason Williams of the Taxpayer Association of Oregon and Jeff Kropf of Americans for Prosperity.

Looks like a great crowd hopefully the nuts inside got the message. I really wanted to be there but had to miss it due to an unscheduled event that happened today.

  • Rupert in Springfield

Just got back from the Springfield version. Way more people than I thought ( I was expecting a couple hundred, I would say over 500 ). More car horns blaring than I could count.

  • Bob Clark

I was at the Salem rally, and at one point the Senate Republican leader kept referring to folks in the crowd as minute men. There is already is such a group, but I like the idea of creating a new minute man movement or joining up with the existing one.

Crowds were more likely closer to 4,000. According to the State Police, the top flat area holds 500 when LOOSELY packed. As someone navigating the area with a camera, I can attest to it being TIGHTLY packed. So estimate 750-1,000 right there. Plus, they were on both sets of stairs, the second landing, the parking area, the drop off area, the south side of Court St. and five rows deep at a minimum on the north side of Court St. Oh, and probably another 100 on the very top set of steps behind the speakers. 4,000 is indeed a fair estimate.

Big success in Bend. Probably the largest group of people that has ever assembled in Bend. Close to 2000
