Salem – Americans for Prosperity State Director Jeff Kropf today announced details of the May 29th AFP-Oregon “Defending the American Dream” Summit to be held at the Salem Conference Center. The all-day event will feature conservative speakers, training for limited government activists and a visit to the State Capitol. With the Legislature having introduced almost 200 tax and fee increases, and a personal income tax hike under consideration, the DAD Summit will send the message that Oregonians are taxed enough already and that Oregon’s government needs to learn to live within expected revenues.

“The Taxpayer Tea Parties organized by AFP and others across this state on April 15 were an important beginning,” noted Kropf. “The energy and passion demonstrated by thousands of Oregonians that day is now being consolidated into action. The Defending the Dream summit will provide motivation and training for attendees, and then an opportunity to bring the limited government message directly to the Oregon State Capitol. It’s going to be an action-packed day.”

Registration will open at 8:00 am, and the schedule includes a 9:00 – 11:00 am General Session which will feature motivational speakers including President of Americans for Tax Reform Grover Norquist, Joe “the plumber” Wurzelbacher and KXL Radio host Lars Larson among others.

Break-out sessions for training purposes will be held at 11:00 am and following lunch at 1:00 pm. Among the topics will be How to Use New Media for Conservative Activism, How to Talk to Your Elected Official and How to Use Oregon’s Initiative System in Your Town, among others.

Attendees will be bused to the State Capitol for a 3:00 pm rally, then a visit to their State Senators and Representatives. Afterwards, the group will return to the Conference Center for closing remarks from Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund.

Hundreds of AFP members from across Oregon are expected to attend the Summit. For more information, or to register to attend this important grassroots event, please visit www.defendingthedream.com/OR.
