Taxpayer Association: Public Safety and M 57 Compromise Approved

Taxpayer Association of Oregon Bill Watch:

The Oregon House passed a series of public safety budget bills that protect critical services including State Troopers and Oregon Youth Authority facilities, and also approved another law that will allow for full implementation of Measure 57 until next February before a phase-in of the law occurs. After February 15, some provisions of Measure 57 would take a time-out, allowing time for a study of a reduced version of the property crimes bill as part of an agreement reached to protect 24-7 state trooper coverage and other crucial public safety services.
