Did I hear him say the Cap and Trade legislation has been in the works for 30 years? Global Warming has only entered our consciousness as a serious issue in the last 10-15 years. If this is true, then the solution has been around for longer than the problem.

  • Max

Is this guy for real? What a moron.

  • A Griever

The Wu Choo train should be uncoupled, dismantled and sold for scrap. ConUS man Wu is a
Wrong Iron for direction Oregon should be headed.

  • David Appell

    > last 10-15 years.

Maybe your consciousness, but US government scientists have been expressing concern about manmade climate change since the 1960s. The first scientist to calculate the expected effects was Arrhenius — in 1896.

    • jim karlock

Yeah David and back then those same kooks, Schneider and Hansen, *were warning us of a coming ice age.* “U. S. Scientist Sees New Ice Age Coming” Friday, July 9 , 1971 THE WASHINGTON POST

      Here is what they said:
“However, it is projected that man’s potential to pollute will increase six- to eightfold in the next 50 years (24).If this increased rate of injection of particulate matter in the atmosphere should raise the present global background opacity by a factor of 4, our calculations suggest a decrease in global temperature by as much as 3 ÌŠ K. Such a large decrease in the average surface temperature of Earth, sustained over a period of few years, is believed to be sufficient (25) to trigger an ice age. ( Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide and Aerosols: Effects of Large Increases on Global Climate, SCIENCE. VOL. 173, 138)

*So burning fossil fuels will bring the next ice age!*
David, you really pick winners to follow.

BTW, we are still waiting for your proof that man’s CO2 can cause dangerous warming.
BTW, we are also still waiting to see proof of your PhD, especially since you screw up so much basic science on the blogs.

      Thanks
      JK

What should concern you more than anything are the voters who keep returning this worthless schlub.

Think about it! There are thousands of D1 folks who have NO clue of what a bum this guy is. I dare him to have a few more town meetings. Waiting>

    • Oregometry

He has a list of town hall meetings during the month of August posted on his Web site.

      So, um, you’re an idiot.

      • JimRay

and showing up, 2 different items, Idiot! We’ll be there with bells on.

    David,
Despite your idiocy in thinking otherwise that has absolutely no relevance and does nothing to bolster the AGW fraud. Your continued effort to pump life into and inflate the pathetic case for AGW leaves you looking dumber and more dishonest every day.

A nice insult from a little boy who hides behind his mother’s skirt and is afraid to sign his real name.

In any case, I’m sure I know far, far better than you that the dominant view in climate science is the influence of man on the atmosphere and oceans. I suspect I’ve read about a hundred times more scientific papers than you have, and talked with a hundred times more scientists, on all sides of the debate.

And I’m not afraid to sign my name to my opinions.

      • jim karlock

*David Appell:* In any case, I’m sure I know far, far better than you that the dominant view in climate science is the influence of man on the atmosphere and oceans.
*JK:* What about thousands of PhD signers of the petetion project opposing alarmist warming?
What about the IPCC scientists that have come out against the alarmist views of the IPCC?
What about the just revealed revolt of real scientists against a major physics society for advocating your kind of BS?

*David Appell:* I suspect I’ve read about a hundred times more scientific papers than you have, and talked with a hundred times more scientists, on all sides of the debate.
*JK:* Then you MUST be able to tell me which of those hundreds of papers has actual proof of man’s CO2 causing dangerous warming. Please show us the proof, or we conclude that there is no proof and you are just behaving like a classic useful idiot for the Al Gore profiteers.

        Thanks
        JK

        • David Appell

Jim, I keep asking you this question, but you never reply:

What do you mean by “dangerous?”

Dangerous to whom? People? All people? Poor people? Rich people? Africans? Or Australians? Texas corn farmers? What about Russian and Canadian wheat farmers? Oregon vineyards? Polar bears? Migrating birds? Glaciers? Reservoirs? Fish? Plankton? Frog species in central American that already seem to have gone extinct from climate change?

How dangerous? How much change in regional drought indices is “dangerous?” Or does it depend where? California va. Australia? New Mexico vs. the Sahel? Is it dangerous to a Texas corn farmer if his corn crop is only 50% of normal this year due to their drought, or does it have to be 65%? Or 50% two years in a row? Or five years in a row? If it’s dangerous to him but advantageous to commodity traders, is it still “dangerous?” What if it results in lower food prices, but less farmers? Is that dangerous, and, if so, how much dangerous?

What is the unit of danger, anyway?

Was it dangerous to the ~35,000 French who died in a huge heat wave a few years ago?
Is it dangerous to coral now bleaching? How much coral degradation must take place before it is dangerous to other ocean inhabitants, or even man? 75%? 90%? Please define.

Would a 30 cm rise in sea level be dangerous to the Netherlands? Or would it take 80 cm? What about to Venice? Or south Florida? Is it the same danger for Venice as for south Florida? Or is it only half as dangerous? If so, how are you mathematically defining dangerous?

          Thanks.

David Appell, you have as much ludicrosity and Alvin Gore – and tell US you bong on another that suits your fantasy. Sheesh, what a maroon DA appears to be.

    David,
Your self image demonstrates delusion added to your dishonesty. A perfect mix for touting the propaganda that attempts to preserve the AGW and careers of those leading and feeding off it.

    • David Appell

Anonymous, is that all you have, a few vague personal insults? Please — you’re minor league.

  • Oregometry

I’m the guy sitting across the aisle from “Samurai Mom.” I look very visibly uncomfortable because I believe in the importance of citizen engagement and public discourse.

David Wu is a terrible member of Congress. I used to work for him. He does nothing, but enjoys the benefits of galas, campaigning and parties. He never has to raise a cent because a handful of rich Asian-American businessmen in NYC want to keep him in Congress.

That said, this was a disgusting display. The effort by those that call themselves “teabaggers” or “conservatives” to disrupt and distort is horrific. There was not a single genuine question asked by these folks and therefore, the congressman got out of there without having to work at all. If you want to get the most out of a town hall, ask concise, clear questions and make him talk.

Right before this clip, some racist septuagenarian in the back went on a five-minute diatribe while Wu stood there and smiled. You folks must have borderline mental disabilities.

    • David Appell

Oregometry: who are these “rich Asian Americans” that bankroll Wu?

I’d love to know more. Please email me.

Maybe Wu should have just held a pillow over her mouth…

  • Claudia

I’m still trying to figure out why she calls herself Samurai mom? She asked a simple question…one i have heard asked many times before at town hall meetings with Wu and others.
I have watched this video several times trying to figure out what the big deal is about her question…guess i missed something….

  • JanSimpson

Uh Oh – Barbara Boxer will call these people plants or astro turfers, Pelosi will call them Nazis, Obama will call them manufactured – gosh well dressed ppl are being discriminated against
