Oregon: 2nd fastest growing government!

Taxpayer Association of Oregon,

 Oregon: 2nd fastest growing government!

The $1 billion in income and business tax increases is funding an out-of-control government spending spree completely out of line to the rest of the nation. Help save our economy by signing the business tax referendum petition initiatives at Stop Job Killing Taxes.com . Or call 503-Stop-Tax.

What do we have to do to be #1?

  • Paul

What do we have to do, Sagano?
Elect more Democrats, of course. That’s what got us in this mess in the first place.

  • Reper

It seems you are assuming that North Dakota, which has the #1 growth, is a Democrat state. I am not sure that is true.

      Governor John Hoeven (R)
      Lieutenant Governor Jack Dalrymple (R)
      U.S. Senators Kent Conrad (D)
      Byron Dorgan (D)
U.S. House delegation Earl Pomeroy (D) (list)

        Awesome!

North Dakota is hard to compare to other states – the population and government are so small that hiring a few more people in any state office could be a large percentage increase. Also, it is hard to pin down as Republican or Democrat. The state regularly goes through large swings from one direction to the other, often contrary to what the rest of the nation does (and with itself!). For instance, in 2006 and 2008, it elected mostly Republicans to state office – while at the same time sending all Democrats to Washington.

I would call ND a statistical “flier,” making Oregon “number one” after smoothing.

We assume too much, and know too little.

    I love taxes!
Everyone else has to pay them.
    I am unemployed.
    Yippeee!

  • John Fairplay

The Office of Economic Analysis ought to publish two datapoints on unemployment – the Government Unemployment Rate (GUR) and the Private Sector Unemployment Rate (PSUR). The GUR is almost always at or near zero – in fact there are normally hundreds of government jobs that are have been created but not yet filled as we wait to see which Democrat legislators (or Republican tax increase supporters) will resign his or her seat to fill them. The PSUR is actually quite a bit higher then the published rate of 12.2 percent.

Have to give props to the SEIU, the OEA, AFSCME and other government employee unions which are doing what they are supposed to – grab as much as they can with both hands.

The bigger it gets, the less it does!

So glad we will be gone from this financial toilet in 60 days! Thanks IDIOT TED and all your UNION SHILL ADVISORS. You’ve done a bang up job screwing the state’s economy for years to come.

    • Jim Ray

Let’s keep “civility” now. Calling Ted an “IDIOT” is not nice and will upset JW.

(I’m kidding!) Ted is a dope who’s never had a real job. Only been a stooge for his masters. A pathetic man.

Oregon had a 13.9% increase in general fund expenditures for fiscal 2010?

This is so far out of line with what is plausible, I won’t believe it until I see some confirmation and explanation.

  • Jerry

Me thinks if the smoking ban in seedy bars was repealed we would get enough of an increase in video poker to help all the unemployed in Oregon.
