Wilsonville, OR – Republican Governor Candidate and State Representative Dennis Richardson commented on the announcement of the Federal General Accountability Office audit of Cover Oregon:
“The Cover Oregon fiasco is one of the worst cases of wasted taxpayer money in Oregon History. Since I first sounded the alarm as Co-Chair of the legislature’s budget drafting committee in 2011, more than $300 Million has been allocated, yet Oregon’s health insurance exchange still doesn’t work. Where did the money go? Who is accountable for such flagrant waste? What can be done to avoid yet another State information technology project failure in the future?
The Federal GAO audit should answer these and other important questions. Oregonians deserve to go on-line for the affordable, high quality health insurance that Cover Oregon promised, yet failed to deliver. I thank Congressman Walden for his role in bringing forward this GAO audit.”
