School bans Giving Tree, replaces with Giving Snowman?

By NW Notes,
From the Ashland Daily Tidings,

Ashalnd’s Bellview Elementary School Principal has pulled the holiday giving tree because of families complaining that the tree is a religious symbol. The so called “evil” tree was used to provide lists of needs for underprivileged children in Southern Oregon. It has recently been replaced by two giving snowmen. The principal said, “”An evergreen tree decorated with lights and ornaments, I think in our culture is the definition of a Christmas tree. When your family does not have a tree in the house, it becomes a religious symbol.”
