Here is a No on Measure 66 and Measure 67 business and income tax measures video put out by Oregonians Against Job Killing Taxes. Oregon voters will decide the fate of Measure 66 and Measure 67 taxes in a January Special Election.

During campaign – BO – Raising capitol gains taxes is good even though higher capitol gains taxes retards economic growth resulting in lower revenue and less job creation.

Now:

BO – Lowering capitol gains taxes will spur investment in business and increase employment. Lowering capitol gains taxes is good.

Of course BO’s thinking in this will be held to be correct in both of these instances, there is no contradiction. The interesting thing will be to see how double think will work with Oregon’s idea to raise business taxes in the middle of staggering unemployment.

Now BO says lowering taxes on investment results in job creation, but yet Oregon is raising business taxes in a situation of severe unemployment. I would suggest that if you are out of a job, and in the need of inexpensive entertainment, go ask a liberal how both BO’s statements and the Oregon legislatures actions can be the correct ones.

Regardless, one thing will remain a constant, if you support lower business taxes as a means of increasing employment, then you hate working people, whoever the hell they are.

Well, to answer the lady’s question of “What are we supposed to do?”…

Hmm, if she’s worried about her business, then she needs to find $140. If she’s not paying the minimum, then she doesn’t really have to worry about withholding, does she? If that $140 is a make-or-break for her business, she should probably re-evaluate her business plan.

But maybe she’s worried about the personal tax rate? Since the increased tax rates are MARGINAL RATES, she’s only paying the new 10.8% on the dollars ABOVE the threshhold ($125K single or $250K joint).

So, since she’s asking what “THEY” are supposed to do, let’s suppose that she files jointly. If the combined income is $300,000, then she pays the CURRENT rate on the first $250,000 and an extra 1.8% on the other $50,000… or about $900.

In 2009, 15% of Oregon taxpayers will see LOWER taxes due to the exclusion of taxes on some unemployment benefits. Only 3% of filers will see higher taxes.

For the rest of us, this commercial really isn’t relevant.

    Actually, I’m one of the (few) people actually hit by the tax increases themselves. My business taxes will increase by $140. My household doesn’t make over $250,000, so I’m not getting hit by the small personal income tax increase.
    
    I’m interested, though, in how you think that this will bring about an economic collapse. When I hire someone, I get to deduct that from my business taxes. So this doesn’t really make it more difficult for me to hire… My customers are not usually in a demographic that would be hit by the personal income tax changes…
