Rep. Andy Olson elected House whip

SALEM””Rep. Andy Olson (R-Albany) last night was elected House Republican Whip, effective upon adjournment of the 2010 session. He is replacing Rep. Ron Maurer (R-Grants Pass), who stepped down from the post after announcing he was not seeking re-election to the Oregon House of Representatives. As House Republican Whip, Rep. Olson will work with Republican leadership and Deputy Whips Rep. Tim Freeman (R-Roseburg), Rep. John Huffman (R-The Dalles), Rep. Sherrie Sprenger (R-Scio) and Rep. Matt Wingard (R-Wilsonville) to advance the caucus’ agenda.

“I am honored to be elected by my colleagues to this important leadership position,” Rep. Olson said. “As House Republican Whip, I’ll work with leadership and my caucus to put Oregon back on the right track.”

Rep. Olson is currently serving his third term in the House, and is retired from the Oregon State Police.
