SALEM””Rep. Andy Olson (R-Albany) last night was elected House Republican Whip, effective upon adjournment of the 2010 session. He is replacing Rep. Ron Maurer (R-Grants Pass), who stepped down from the post after announcing he was not seeking re-election to the Oregon House of Representatives. As House Republican Whip, Rep. Olson will work with Republican leadership and Deputy Whips Rep. Tim Freeman (R-Roseburg), Rep. John Huffman (R-The Dalles), Rep. Sherrie Sprenger (R-Scio) and Rep. Matt Wingard (R-Wilsonville) to advance the caucus’ agenda.
“I am honored to be elected by my colleagues to this important leadership position,” Rep. Olson said. “As House Republican Whip, I’ll work with leadership and my caucus to put Oregon back on the right track.”
Rep. Olson is currently serving his third term in the House, and is retired from the Oregon State Police.
