Press Release

Eugene – Yesterday, Lane County Commissioner Faye Stewart announced that he is running for United States Senate. Commissioner Stewart has served as the East Lane County Commissioner for over a decade.

“It has been my privilege to serve the residents of Lane county for the past 11 years,” Stewart said. “We have gone through some tough times together, with the recession, funding cuts and an increased demand for services. In Lane County we have come together to find innovative solutions to address public safety, job creation, healthcare and homelessness.”

“Unfortunately the needs of Lane County, and all of Oregon’s counties, have been neglected by our federal government. As Vice President of the Association of O&C Counties, I have seen first hand the broken promises and lack of leadership crippling our state.  I am running for Senate because I believe my neighbors and every citizen in this great state deserve more. Oregon needs a true advocate, someone who can navigate the dysfunction of congress and make sure our voices are heard.”

“In the months ahead I look forward to meeting as many Oregonians as possible and to continue doing what I have for over a decade – finding solutions that work for all of us.”

A sixth generation Oregonian, Commissioner Stewart and his wife Tami, live in Cottage Grove and have four children – Gracie, Fayth, Joshua and Hope.
