The memorial for Seaside police officer Sgt. Jason Goodding was held yesterday [1] at the Seaside Convention Center. Sgt. Goodding was killed [2] in the line of duty on Friday, February 5, 2016.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page [3], a total of 10 police officers in the U.S. have been killed in the line of duty so far in 2016 – six of those in the week since Sgt. Goodding was killed.
There were 130 line of duty deaths in 2015 – that’s one police officer who died in the line of duty every 2.8 days.
The Seaside Police Department [4] has provided information on how to donate to support Sgt. Goodding’s family – either through any U.S. Bank branch anywhere in the U.S. or by going to the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation website [5].
