Some numbers from my previous post “¦

*When asked which party they believed would cut taxes for the middle-class 42% said the Democrats while only 29% chose the Republicans.

*When asked which Party will work towards reducing the deficit 47% chose the Democrats while only 22% chose the Republicans.

*Again, when asked who will keep government spending under control the Democrats held a 17 point edge (38% Democrats, 21% Republicans).

I can’t tell you when it began precisely “¦ but the Republican Party has been ideologically adrift for too long and have now become shipwrecked on the island of minority status. Now is the time to rebuild and remold … and more importantly … to return to the fundamental reformist bonds that the voters gave the Republicans in 1994. A bond that they willingly squandered as they became fat and happy big government spenders.

To that end, I’ve dedicated my time, energy, and resources to the creation of a new fiscally conservative State PAC called Club for Growth Oregon.

What is Club for Growth Oregon?

Club for Growth Oregon is a statewide political membership organization dedicated to expanding the prosperity of working families through the Reagan Doctrine of lower taxes, smaller government and strong free enterprise.

As the Oregon affiliate of a rapidly growing national organization, we are committed to seeing that Oregonians regain a voice in Oregon politics. For too long, elected officials who claim to be fiscal conservatives have cast aside their beliefs to partake in a bloated government that insists on taking more and more from hard working families trying to achieve the American Dream.

To that end, Club for Growth Oregon is committed to advancing public policies that promote economic growth. The mission of the Club is to identify for our Members the political candidates running for elected office in Oregon who believe these ideals so they may help finance their elections, and to monitor their performance in elected office. The Club also helps finance strategic issue campaigns to advance our policy goals. The Club emphasis is to advance issues that are vital to keeping the American economy prosperous, such as a tax rate reduction, less government regulation of business and speech, expanding school choice, protecting private property rights, and fundamental tax reform.

To instill greater integrity today, we’re launching Club for Growth Oregon to put an end to these games. For us, playtime is over!

Ours is a very straightforward formula – get the facts, know who is responsible, side with select candidates who stand up for individual liberty and economic growth, and then do everything in our power to get that person elected. We’ll offer a unique opportunity to affect positive change in Oregon by promoting the values that have made our state and our nation a beacon of liberty and responsible self-government for people everywhere.

Fiscal conservatives have the power to bring Gov. Kulongoski’s profligate spending under control. The question is whether or not they have the will and courage.

For too long, elected officials who claim to be fiscal conservatives have cast aside their beliefs to partake in a bloated government that insists on taking more and more from hard working families trying to achieve the American Dream.
