Bob Tiernan is “passing the torch”

By NW Spotlight,

Bob Tiernan has announced to the Oregon Repubican Party Central Committee that he’s decided that it’s time to “move on.” ┬áIn his announcement, he indicated that he had made the decision several months ago not to run again if he could find another Republican leader to run for chairman who could build on the accomplishments of the past two years.

Tiernan will be getting back to his consulting business and a new assignment in the Navy Reserve.

Oregon Catalyst broke the story last Friday about the push to get Allen Alley to run for Oregon GOP chair.

UPDATE

The Oregon Repubican Party has issued a press release: Allen Alley has announced that he will run for party chair when the new chair is elected later this month (January 22nd), and he is endorsed by Bob Tiernan and Rep. Greg Walden.

Sad to see him leave after such a short tenure. He didn’t seem to ever make as many headlines as Vance. I hope that we can find a replacement that will bring more attention to our cause.

Bob Tiernan took on alot. He is running a business, and performing as a Naval Reserve Commander. Just that reality in itself is a tremendous obligation. As a Naval Reserve Commander, he probably works at least two full weekends each month along with additional days for preparation etc. When one adds in chairman of a state party, one can easily infer that he had zero time to himself and his family.

Both Vance Day and Bob Tiernan are tremendous “Selfless Patriots.” Each had differing styles etc., but both were very effective in their own way.

I guess Bob Tiernan can put some closure on his chairmanship, given that the Oregon House and Senate are now balanced. This is a great accomplishment!!!!!!

Hopefully the next chairman wont have to move the party “Headquarters” 10 times in 4 years!!!!

It would be fitting to allow Tiernan to leave the state party in solid financial shape. Its a new year, and time to contribute once again. Thats the least we can do considering all the time he spent working so dilligently for our freedoms and the fiscal health of Oregon. Thanks Mr. Tiernan!!!!

Hopefully the new chairman will be able to take down the OR GOP HQ sign that has been up in front of an empty “for lease” building on the busiest road in the capital for four years – despite repeated attempts by former dues-paying members of the organization to point out what an embarrassment it is!

Best regards to the outgoing GOP Chairman.

‘Commander’ Tiernan is right up my Allan Alley. Certainly, both gentlemen in the minds of many as better suited for Mahonia Hall, especially in lieu of beholding another moot-SEIUted Kitzastrophe in progress.
