Kitzhaber’s first job creation plan will create 20 new jobs

On Tuesday, Gov. Kitzhaber announced that he had instructed the Department of Energy to use $2 million of leftover federal stimulus dollars to conduct audits on 500 Oregon schools, which the governor estimates will create about 20 new jobs.  Latest numbers from the Oregon Employment Department show that 210,000 Oregonians are unemployed – that number doesn’t include Oregonians who are underemployed or who have given up looking for work.
