SEATS GOING FAST FOR OIA LAND USE FORUM
Have you signed up for the OIA Education Center’s 2008 Land Use Forum, which will be held on March 15, 2008 at the Wilsonville Holiday Inn? If not, you better hurry, as seats are going fast.
This year’s Forum promises to be the most informative Forum we’ve ever held.
Property owners from around the state are registering in record numbers to attend.
As in past years, a sellout crowd of approximately 600 Oregon property owners is expected.
This year’s Forum will feature a panel who will answer all your questions about Measure 49, and a separate panel to discuss the Big Look Land Use Task Force, the 10 member state commission that will likely recommend sweeping changes to Oregon’s unique and controversial land use system.
Fortunately, as we’ve done in the past, we have gone straight to the source to address these issues. At this year’s Forum, you will hear about Measure 49 from Richard Whitman, the new Director of the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD). The DLCD is the state agency administering all of the Measure 49 claims, so have your questions answered by the Director of that agency.
There will be no better source of information about Measure 49 than this year’s Forum.
And if you have a question about Oregon’s land use system and the changes that we may see from the Big Look Task Force, then the Forum is for you. We will have a panel with two members from the Big Look Task Force, including Mike Thorne, the Chair of the Task Force. If you want to know how to get involved with the Task Force or what the Task Force is considering, the Forum is for you.
In addition to the Measure 49 and Big Look Task Force panels, we will have an update on land use/property rights bills in the recent session of the Oregon legislature, land use/property rights cases in the Oregon and federal courts, and other issues that property owners need to be aware of, including the recent efforts of the Washington legislature to enact a law declaring large parts of northeastern Washington as part of the “Yukon to Yellowstone Corridor,” which would have devastating effects on property owners in the west, including parts of northeastern Oregon.
The cost of the Forum is $30, and includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
