Two more Republicans have joined the race to replace Rep. Matt Wingard [2] in this November’s election for state House District 26, Wilsonville. Both are attorneys.

57-year old Richard Vial, of Hillsboro, has been a school board member and currently serves on the Washington County Planning Commission. The Oregonian reports [3] that Vial “labels himself a fiscal conservative who says government should support business growth, but that ‘social design’ should be left to family, church and the local community.”

59-year old Randy Harvey, of Sherwood, retired from working in public schools and is now a lawyer. He won a Toastmasters award in 2004 for his public speaking skills. Harvey holds numerous degrees – his website [4] notes that he holds a Masters in Education, a Bachelors of History, and a Bachelors of Education from Eastern Oregon University, as well as a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon and a law degree from the Concord School of Law.

Richard Vial and Randy Harvey join Lindsay Berschauer and John Davis, who previously announced [5] their candidacy.

More candidates may come forward before the Friday, July 6 filing deadline. The nominee will be chosen Monday, July 9 and will run in the November general election against the Democratic candidate, Wynne Wakkila.
