Senate Passes Landmark “Comprehensive” Immigration Bill on a 62-36 vote

Senate legislation offering millions of illegal immigrants a chance at citizenship passes the Senate and now faces opposition in a joint conference committee with House Members that passed an enforcement only bill. (For a bill comparison click here)

So many subplots and subtopics to cover! President Bush said the House “began a national dialogue” when it passed an immigration bill last year … does this reflect the changes in the dialogue since then? Who will the leadership appoint to this critical conference? Wyden, Smith, Cantwell, Craig, and Murray all vote Yes “¦ who does this hurt or help? Do you expect the conference to move more to the Senate bill or the House bill and why? And the every looming and always present question “¦.
