2009-11 GOVERNOR’S BUDGET: MOST AGENCIES SPARED FROM BUDGET CUTS
Massive Fee Increases Would Fuel Agency Spending Growth
The following is a breakdown of how agencies fare in the 2009-11 Governor’s Recommended Budget, compared to funding in the previous budget. Despite warnings of deep cuts to services, very few agencies are expecting to see their budgets reduced. Some agencies are expecting significant budget increases.
The Governor’s budget is backed by nearly $2 billion in tax increases and “revenue adjustments.” The Governor’s budget also calls for a 57.6 percent revenue increase in agency “charges for services” and a 36.1 percent revenue increase in agency “licenses and fees.” The following table measures changes in the All Funds budget to account for all revenue increases.
