235 Statesman Journal employees will be taking a week of unpaid leave as part of a cost-cutting plan by their publisher Gannett which operates 85 newspapers in America. These measures will begin March (link here [1]).
Further bad news for newspapers, last month Pew Research poll [2] found that the internet beat newspapers as preferred source of where they get their news (40% internet, 35% newspaper). That was a 24% jump in one year.
