The Virginia and New Jersey governors-elect have both appointed long-time school choice proponents to their states’ top education posts. This past Tuesday, Gerard Robinson, president of the national Black Alliance for Educational Options [1], was named the commonwealth’s new Secretary of Education. Yesterday, Bret Schundler was selected to serve as the Garden State’s new education commissioner [2]. From 1992 to 2001 Schundler served as Mayor of Jersey City. His appointment awaits state senate approval.
