An article on Saturday in the Wall Street Journal reported that the Obama administration has agreed to “pay to hire hundreds more police officers to patrol schools around the country” in the form of COPS grants. The WSJ article goes on to note that this is “an idea the National Rifle Association has been promoting.” The NRA discussed the idea last December after the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.

As a part of the grants, Newtown, Conn. will get funding for two additional police officers for their schools.
