Looks like the fools at Copenhagen don’t realize that the top UN IPCC scientists say warming stopped 11 years ago and they don’t know why and they don’t have adequate observing systems to figure it out!

*Phil Jones – head of the Climate Research Unit,* Draft Contributing Author to the Summary for Policy Makers, and Coordinating Lead Author of Ch3 of the 4th UN IPCC report on climate change, AR4) said:

Jul 5 15:51:55 2005: *The scientific community would come down on me in no uncertain terms if I said the world had cooled from 1998. OK it has but it is only 7 years of data and it isn’t statistically significant.* (1120593115.txt) [ *Note* : in 2009, it is now11 years of cooling.]

Here is what *Kevin Trenberth,* Draft Contributing Author for the Summary for Policy Makers, contributing author to Ch 1, a lead author for Ch 3, and contributing author to Ch 7 of the 4th UN IPCC report on climate change, AR4.) Said:

12 Oct 2009: … *we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record* . (…) and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. (…) The fact is that *we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. (. . .) Our observing system is inadequate.* (1255352257.txt)
    ——————————-
Oct 14, 2009: *We are not close to balancing the energy budget. The fact that we can not account for what is happening in the climate system* makes any consideration of geoengineering quite hopeless as we will never be able to tell if it is successful or not! It is a travesty! (1255523796.txt)

    Thanks

This film had some good elements and some aspects I really liked:

1 – OK, I am a sucker for vignette. I don’t know why but I have always liked it. I’m not really sure why it is done here, maybe they simply filmed with the wrong lens.

2 – The bed in the desert all alone with the earth cracking segment. OK, bed in the desert all alone is really 1980’s and that kind of made me feel young. It was just sort of a standard in every rock music video that you have a bed in a wide open field, maybe a segment with a white horse wandering aimlessly about, or a drum stick coming down on a snare drum with milk on the top filmed in slow motion. Anyway, this segment brought back some fond youthful memories.

3 – Color wash out. Ok, I don’t think this was done on purpose but I have loved this ever since the 1984 remake of 1984. The only part that is sort of ridiculous is they use it throughout the film, and that makes it less effective. The film opens on some sort of housing project that looks like the oppressive Estonian housing projects in 2002’s – “Lilja 4 Ever”. Alright, so, girl has a lousy existence. Ok, so then we move into the nightmare sequence and sure it looks a little scary, but frankly her original existence in nightmare Estonian housing project doesn’t look so great either.

Bottom line, “Lilja 4 Ever” is a much better film and has much better use of ugly housing projects than this one. Actually it has way better use of dream sequences than this film and Oksana Akinshina is a far better actor than this girl. It is also one of the most depressing films ever made but that in itself puts the whole AGW orthodoxy in perspective and thus I think is helpful. I felt like killing myself for about two weeks after seeing Lilja and that’s quite an achievement considering bought a copy of Eraserhead the day it was released. So, if you want to see a film about a girls depressing life in Estonian housing projects the better bet would be Lilja rather than this attempt.

AGW? Who cares. The correspondence between record cold snaps in the US, and the holding of AGW summits or an Al Gore speech is far greater than any of the computer models thus far when it comes to lining up with reality.

You want to do something about climate change? Stop holding these stupid summits which do nothing but raise my heating bill. I’m tired of frozen pipes. Put down the limo and step away from the summit. You guys have all had more than enough fancy banquets, some of us would like our pipes to thaw. Just step back and move away from the summit.

jim, nobody ever said global warming would proceed at an even pace. i also don’t know where Phil Jones got his data. overall, the decade just passed has likely been the warmest on record: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i9TuMrvrknh-ZXwqmZ2N-48kff3wD9CF81LO0

As for the video, i agree it’s kinda silly.

“But Jim, this girl is dying, help her Jim, help her!”

Uh, it was a DREAM, dude.
