    OBAMA = EPIC FAILURE!

  • Eddie

    So?

Context: This is Obama addressing a mostly foreign press at the recent summit, some of whom come from countries that may not like the fact that the U.S. is a superpower. Sounds to me like Obama addressed them and basically said, “we’re a superpower, so like it or not, tough nuts to you,” thereby establishing a rationale for the U.S. leading this effort.

I don’t understand what this post is getting at.

Obama is apologizing for being a superpower. Why?

    • Rupert in Springfield

Probably for the same reason he bows to pretty much any foreign leader he meets. The guy has some complex about American preeminence and seems bound and determined not only to apologize for it, but to cut it down to size.

Perhaps he is making an effort to be diplomatic?

Bama’s presidency should be labelled Commander in Chump. He agrees to reduce our arsenals with the Russians at the very sametime the Russians help orchestrate the takeover of yet one more central Asian country (Kyrgyzstan). In the real world peace comes through strength not weakness. I can’t imagine Theodore Rosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington making such guilt ridden sorrowful rhetoric. I sure hope this guy ends up on the scrap heap of American presidential history like one-term Carter.

“In the real world peace comes through strength not weakness. ”

Yeah. I guess George Bush sure proved your point didn’t he? I mean, he brought us more peace then we could stand.

Rupert writes: “The guy has some complex about American preeminence…”

Maybe it is you who has the complex. Maybe he simply recognizes that being the largest military power does not mean its a good idea to rub everyone’s face in it.

I’m with Obama. I really uncomfortable being part of the first major nation in human history to grant such broad freedoms to the people; the biggest “giver” to others in need around the world; the deciding factor in the ending to two world wars; and the producer of so many of the modern innovations that make life a little easier and healthier.

“the first major nation in human history to grant such broad freedoms to the people”

Granted? People had to win those freedoms with blood, sweat, jail time, and death.

“the biggest “giver” to others in need around the world”

Proportionate to our wealth per capita, we are ranked somewhere between 9th and 18th depending on how you calculate.

“the deciding factor in the ending to two world wars”

The Russians and many historians have a different take on the European theater in WW 2. The larger war effort was on the eastern front by just about any measurement.
