Candidate filing: GOP offers two new challenges to incumbents

Two strong Republican contenders filed today, Jeff Duyck and Mick Macalmond. Jeff Duyck filed to run against Rep. Chuck Riley (Hillsboro area). Jeff is from the Duyck & Van Duyck family which represent some of the largest farmers and landowners in Washington County. The Duyck family name is very well know on the Westside, and provide a formidable challenge to Riley who sits on a seat with evenly mixed party registration. Jeff is related to Andy Duyck who serves as Washington County Commissioner.

Another contender boasted by Republicans is Mick Macalmond who is running against incumbent Rep. Tobias Read in Beaverton. Macalmond is a Marine, financial advisor and former vice president of bank.

I saw a great candidate show up in the filing list tonight against Davey “The Punk” – Andy Meyers!!!! Poor Davey. The Phony Moderate Edwards will get a run for his money!!!!!!!!

Who is Andy Meyers? never heard of him

It’s Russ not Mick. Russ looks like a great guy and who will actually understands financial numbers. As you can see from Tobias Read’s spending votes so far, he clearly doesn’t. Read must be assuming that the taxpayers are ready to pay for his irresponsibility. Maybe he’ll raise the Corporate Tax on his employer, Nike. If they cut back on headcount to compensate, Read might have to survive on his State Rep salary ($1500/mo?). No worries as I’m sure another business will rush in to Oregon to hire him. After all, it’s such a great business climate!
