The latest rumor from the campaign trail is that there is an effort to write-in “Jim Leuenberger” for Republican Attorney General.

I’m writing in Kevin Mannix for AG. It’s the office he should have run for anyway, and I’m beginning to think he’s not going to make it out of the CD 5 primary.

It’s not a rumor. It’s a fact. I’ve spoken to Jim and he has confirmed it. I have also spoken to the people who started the campaign. And I’ve voted for him.

I like the work Jim has done but its May 15th 5 days before election day. Many ballots of been returned, far too late for any write in. Secondly, write ins only really work when the person has name ID something Jim has not done. Kevin Mannix shot the GOP in the foot when he decided to run for CD5.

I know Jim and like him, but he wouldn’t have even an outside shot in the general election. As a candidate he’s got all of the political baggage of someone like Novick (but without the wit and funding to overcome it).

My advice: gamble on attorneys with name recognition. Vote for Saxton or Mannix.

Hopefully we can convince one of them to throw in.

Amazing. Fine minds do think alike! We have written Kevin Mannix in for AG as well. If he doesn’t make CD5 there is the AG. In either case I think he would represent the state with class and wisdom gained through lots and lots of experience.

Victor Hoffer has also thrown his hat into the GOP AG write-in ring, according to Ruth Pike at this past Tuesday’s Marion Co. CentCom meeting. I know Jim, and like his views; don’t know Victor and need to find out more about him. He was at the meeting but I didn’t take the opportunity to meet him (which I now sorta wish I had).

Could there be a contested write-in campaign?? That’s not too common, is it?

  • CT Johnson

I bet Jim wins the write in race as there is a hidden/big grassroots push behind him statewide. I personally know of about 15 write-ins for him in my own small town.
