Karma Neutral Is Here!

“We do good things so you don’t have to.”

Produced by Climate Change Analyst Todd Wynn and intern David Boussios, this video offers a hilarious take on carbon offsets and cap-and-trade.

Cascade Policy Institute figured the idea could be expanded to the concept of Karma and made a short video that reflects the absurdity of carbon offsetting. For more information about carbon offsets in Oregon, read Cascade’s audit of the leading carbon offset provider in the state, the Climate Trust.

Cascade Policy Institute is Oregon’s free market public policy research organization.

    Oh you made my day.

I don’t know what you are talking about.
Carbon offsets, cap and trade and carbon taxes are all intregal parts of Governor Kulongoski’s green and sustainable plan for Oregon’s economic recovery.
I can already feel the good Karma from the governor and his economic plan.

Wait a minute,,, the governor could sell Good Karma credits too.

    Thanks for the good idea.

I’m calling him to tell him about it right now.

Yes…hillarious. Rising sea levels drowning out east coast cities and half of Florida is even funnier. Imagine all those people, their dogs, golf clubs, flat screen tvs and so forth squeexing onto rubber rafts sent courtesy of Wallmart. Hah hah! Could easily be a new reality TV show, called “Oops…I guess global warming was real. My bad dudes!” Keep up the humorous work CPI! There is a future for you.

Flooding? Sounds like you got sucked in by one of AL Gore’s many lies.

A British court verified that Al Gore lied about the sea level thing:

“25. This is distinctly alarmist, and part of Mr Gore ‘s ‘wake-up call’. It is common ground that if indeed Greenland melted, it would release this amount of water, but *only after, and over, millennia, so that the Armageddon scenario he predicts, insofar as it suggests that sea level rises of 7 metres might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus.*”

He also lied about Greenland and the glaciers melting. See:

    >Yes…hillarious. Rising sea levels drowning out east coast cities and half of Florida is even funnier.

Good lord, there are still people out there that believe this sort of nonsense? I thought when Al Gore backed off of this sort of extremism most would have got it. Apparently not.

Like I always say – throughout history there has always been somone making a damn good living predicting the end of the world. Why they do so is obvious, why the dolts who arent making a buck hang onto it is less so. I think maybe it plays to the perpetual human need to feel history revolves around them. Oh well, who knows, or cares, the point is just to laugh at them.

I am like so naiive and gullible. Only the Oregonian reported today, page 5 A section (I know…I know…Oregonian…) that the most recent data based on the past 2 years of measurements by actual scientists from 60 nations says:

“Glaciers in Antartica are melting faster and across a much wider area than previously thought, a development that threatens to raise sea levels worldwide and force millions of people to flee low lying areas….”

Their *prediction* (not Al’s exaggeration) is now a 3-5 foot rise in sea level by the turn of the century. The mean elevation of Miami is 6 feet above sea level, so you do the math. For New Orleans? That would be minus 7 and sinking. 15% of Bangladesh will be under water if the sea rises 3 feet, the low end of the estimate. Not our problem I suppose, until we have to send in our troops to restore order after 50 million people have to migrate to already over crowded areas.

Like I said. “My bad dudes!”

You need to quit relying on scientifically illiterate newspaper writers.

If you had bothered to look on line you would find that the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research web page, scar.org/news/antarctic/ , only lists one entry that appears to match the claims in the Oregonian article, titled: “Unexpected Warming across Antarctica”

When you follow the link to the paper in Nature, you find it is yet another paper from the fraud artist who created the fraudulent hockey stick temperature chart that Al Gore uses. Even the IPCC downplayed it in their latest report.

The paper has already been debunked. See Climateaudit.org
Anything from Michael Mann has ZERO credibility because of his past scientific fraud. see: SustainableOregon.com/hockeystick.html

        • spam i am

Interesting. Why would Nature, not exactly a scientifically illiterate publication, choose to publish the research findings of a “fraud artist?”

The paper has already been debunked? By the climate audit blog? Oh. I guess that settles it then. Who needs peer review?

          • jim karlock

spam i am: Interesting. Why would Nature, not exactly a scientifically illiterate publication, choose to publish the research findings of a “fraud artist?”
JK: Nature was the one that published the original hockey stick paper from the same group of people. It had to publish a correction. Eventually the NAS all but said it was a fraud. For details see:

Nature has gotten sucked in by the hysteria. Just like most of science bought into Eugenics a century ago. Or the Piltdown man. The Korean clone. Hell, Nature isn’t even requiring its authors to follow its own policy on data availability. OF course you know all of this and choose to ignore reality.

spam i am: The paper has already been debunked? By the climate audit blog?
JK: Yep. They are the same ones that debunked Al Gore’s “hockey stick”. And their debunking was verified by the NAS. Are you still denying this fact?

spam i am: Oh. I guess that settles it then. Who needs peer review?
JK: Again, you are showing your ignorance. Peer review was never about checking every detail of a paper, that is the function of other scientists who replicate the work. Peer review is merely intended to filter out the real “howlers”. Even howlers get published occasionally as the Oakes paper shows. Even a casual reading shows it is laughable.

Why don’t you learn some real science.

If East Coast cities fall into the sea, then I’m all for Global Warming.

    • Davis

Especially since one of those cities is D.C. — although I do kinda like Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL

You are a fool spreading propaganda.
The Oregonain is right up your dishonest alley choosing only to print AGW favorable stories.

You’re quite stupid as well without the ability to perceive BS or evaluate an issue.

The most recent data is garbage n garbage out as the alarmists panic and turn to louder alarms in hopes of drowning out the chorus of refutation of the IPCC and AGW.

Disappearing Arctic Ice Is Latest Climate Falsehood
Submitted by Doug L. Hoffman on Thu, 02/19/2009 – 16:46

In May, 2008, the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) predicted that the North Pole could be ice free during last years melt season. The disappearing northern sea ice has been pointed to by global warming alarmists as visible proof that the Earth was doing a melt down. Today, however, the NSIDC announced that they have been the victims of “sensor drift” that caused them to underestimate the Arctic ice extent by as much as 500,000 square kilometers. It turns out that the demise of the arctic ice was greatly exaggerated.

Funny video! What a trip! I also took a look at the Climate Trust Audit report. Great work!

I didnt even know we already had a cap on carbon dioxide in the state.

I suppose I didnt know because the cap does nothing and all the money is wasted on scams.

probably what would happen with cap and trade too.

  • Huh?

    Is that Enya music?
