Lars Larson on New Taxes, What a Good Idea

So, Oregon’s going to have new taxes in the middle of economic bad times. That’s quite a presciption.

You know, I thought that Ted Kulongoski was crazy before, and the Oregon Legislature, too. But, now, during economic tough times, that we don’t know how long are going to last, the Oregon Legislature is considering raising taxes to solve its own budget problems . A tax bracket going from Oregon’s now 9% to 11%.

What do we want to be? Number one in America for tax rate? A sales tax of 5 to 6%? Taking away the Kicker Tax Refunds? New taxes on hospitals and doctors? Then, taking away tax credits for various purposes and adding new transportation fees of around $1Billion?

All of that to try to fix the economic problems of the state of Oregon.

I’ll tell you how to fix the economic problems of the state of Oregon. We could do with about one half as much government as we currently have to pay for.
