OIA: Senate approves good Measure 49 bill

The Oregon Senate unanimously approved House Bill 3225B, Oregonians In Action’s priority bill for the 2009 session. House Bill 3225B gives approximately 500 additional Oregon property owners the right to make claims under Measure 49. Currently, these claimants are barred from seeking relief under Measure 49 due to the specific language of the Measure. In addition, HB 3225B requires the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) to process and complete all Measure 49 claims by June 30, 2010. The Senate vote follows on the heels of last week’s unanimous House vote in favor of this bill. There is no downside to the bill, and there are 500 new Oregon Measure 37 claimants and their families who would be denied relief under Measure 49 but will now be able to file claims and receive approvals under this bill.
