10 Reasons to be Thankful that Cap and Trade Hasn’t Passed

From Todd Hollenbeck, Americans for Tax Reform,

This year we have much for which to be thankful: family, friends, and the Obama-Reid-Pelosi National Energy Tax (Cap and Trade) has not yet become law to name a few. We would like to remind you of 10 reasons you should be thinkful for that this year:

1.We don’t have to pay over $100 billion in additional taxes.
2.We don’t have to pay an additional $3.6 trillion in gas taxes.
3.We won’t lose 1.1 million jobs between 2012 and 2030 and 2.5 million each year after that.
4.We haven’t made new industries that are dependent on government handouts for their survival.
5.We don’t have a new bureaucracy in place to allocate and sell carbon credits that will increase corruption and favoritism in Washington, DC.
6.Our energy costs will not go up by $1500 per year for a family of four.
7.We won’t have our national debt increase by 26 percent by 2030. An increase of $116,600 for a family of four.
8.We won’t have protectionist tariffs to create trade wars and cause increased prices and shortages on the goods we need.
9.We won’t have a reduction in GDP of $9.4 trillion between 2012 and 2030.
10.We won’t have a 58% increase in gas prices.

Given the revelations coming out regarding the manipulation of data, efforts to stifle dissent, and attempts to even change scientific journal standards, we should all be thankful nothing has yet passed. The abandonment of true science in pursuit of climate change political goals is a monumental scandal.

Where’s David Appel and his cute explanations?

Steve, do not jump to conclusions. Cap and trade passed the House and will be approved by Obama if it comes to his desk. One chamber is left. If Reid does not get health care, he was pass cap and trade. The U.N. spat is nothing but chatter. The US has not abandoned their care for the planet because of the current economic climate.

Doesn’t sound like Bama gives a hoot whether man made global warming is largely dubious, or not. It’s like talking to the wall when you ask for an open debate about the accuracy or solutions about this issue.

This man made global warming religion is already costing us in terms of energy, because of the state mandates and state/federal subsidies handed out to renewable energy projects. The utilities love the renewables mandates, because they get to add huge amounts of new capital to their rate bases which ratepayers pay for in rate of return and depreciation expenses.

Folks in the center, and those with reason, sorely need a spokesperson who can galvanize the cause of man-mad-global-warming-skepticism both in accuracy and solution.

But it will pass eventually and the earth will be saved.
I am willing to pay more to save mother earth.
    I know others are, too.
We must act before the planet is destroyed.
We only have about 4 years left if nothing is done.

  • Reper

I am just thankful that we can have this debate. I bet many of the other nations are not or did not.

  • Provo

Everyone who is so quick to count out Cap-and-trade forgets that it passed the House and just may pass the Senate. This is the year for change.

As a gay man I think the cap and trade laws are the best for man kind.

As a straight man I think your judgement and pollicies are the worst for mankind.

Here’s a way to save the planet! How about saving a ton of money and paving over all the light rail tracks and turning them in to express lanes. Talk about an absolute waste of money. West side light rail, I see it driving by with one or two people on board. What a joke. Governors Green Jobs – another myth. We are throwing tons of money away on Global warming initiatives, now shown to be a hoax by climate gate. Public employee Union people retiring after 30 years with full pay and Cadillac health benefits. At some point and time the state is going to collapse of it’s own debt burden. Furthermore we are going to have to spend good money to tear down all those stupid wind mills that GE is making billions over. I could go on and on. But what’s the use. The inmates are running the asylum. Man Made GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX!!!!!
