Open comments on Obama State of Union speech

Please list your idea on Obama’s State of the Union Speech.

One item of note, is that Obama seemed to target, by name, many groups of people such as banks, the wealthy, the US Supreme Court, The Democratic leadership and Republican leadership. Was this a bold move to speak truth to power or just power politics Chicago style?

Empty like all his speeches. Just talk. Nothing will come of it.
    Hot air.
    Waste of time.

  • Reper

He put on his full statesmanship appearance. Unknown on how the public receives it.

  • Ben just conducted a study with 1050 viewers of President Obama’s State of the Union address. Results found that favorability for the President’s plans for health care, the economy, and foreign policy increased among all political parties after viewing President Obama’s State of the Union Address. In addition, the percentage of respondents who indicated that they would vote for Barack Obama if he ran for a second term increased among all parties. More in-depth results can be seen at:

I’m not a big fan of the “laundry list” style of speaking. I would imagine many viewer’s eyes began to glaze over about the 15th policy description. I think it would be much more effective for the President to pick three top priorities and spend this valuable time making his case for those.

The idea that this guy has any room to lecture anyone, especially the Supreme Court is a little laughable.

Mr. Obama, we know which side you are on. You support the state, not the individual. You were against the two most significant decisions for individual liberty in recent years – Heller and Citizens United.

If all Obama can find to do is attack other groups and people, perhaps his next state of the union should be done wearing a sash, a plethora of medals, maybe a cute hat and a braid looped around the shoulder.

Wake me up when this clown stops his flailing.

Rupert: You forgot the sword part of this clown’s uniform. Too bad he would likely stick himself with it on the way to the telepromter. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

That would be a really good idea.

At least Obama admitted that what he is doing is not working for the country.
So, he said, he will continue doing it until it does work. Bad move!

When Bill Clinton saw his party get walloped in 1994, he made changes and corrections and actually became the most fiscally responsible president of the last half of the 20th century. Obama obviously hasn’t gotten there yet.

“When Bill Clinton saw his party get walloped in 1994…”

Walloped? It is presently 59 to 41 in the Senate, and an over 50 seat majority in the House. The only party that has been walloped is the one in the minority.

“The idea that this guy has any room to lecture anyone, especially the Supreme Court is a little laughable.”

Ha ha. He is the president Rupert. He has earned the pulpit, and he can use it to lecture. And after umpteen years of conservatives lecturing liberals about out of control activist judges, I think its appropriate the shoe now be on the other foot, don’t you?

    All teleprompter all the time.

Jerry, I urge you to watch the back and forth between Obama and the House Republicans from the other day. Teleprompter? I think the Republicans wish they had had one.
