The Oregon Politico news site launches

PORTLAND- The Oregon Politico (OP), an online political news website, is announcing that it has launched as of January 21, 2010.

The Oregon Politico will house original reporting on the government in Oregon in addition to providing links to other relevant stories from news sources around the state. It is also available to other media outlets as a free “wire service.” The OP’s three full-time staff, including a political analyst, an investigative reporter, and an internet marketer, are based out of Portland.

The news site was created to monitor and report happenings in the state capitol, among the congressional delegation, and in other government agencies throughout the state. All stories will be published daily and available to the public free of charge.

The Oregon Politico is a project of the Cascade Policy Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research and educational organization that focuses on state and local issues in Oregon. Cascade’s mission is to develop and promote public policy alternatives that foster individual liberty, personal responsibility and economic opportunity.

“The OP will serve a vital function to the state of Oregon by being a watchdog for the people and ensuring that our elected officials are held accountable. Cascade is pleased to be able to make this vital new service possible.” – John Charles, President and CEO of Cascade Policy Institute
