25 Tea Parties scheduled for Tax Day

Amid Threats of Disruption, AFP Schedules Twenty Five Tax Day Tea Parties Around Oregon
Citizens Urged to Register at www.FightBackOregon.com

Sublimity – Americans for Prosperity – Oregon State Director Jeff Kropf announced today that the group now is sponsoring, co-sponsoring or participating in more than 25 “Tax Day Tea Parties” around Oregon. He also denounced threats of disruption and illegal activity from the opponents of freedom, including a Beaverton-area teacher.

“Americans across this nation are waking up to the fact that their freedom is in jeopardy,” Kropf said. “The Tax Day Tea Parties – in which more than 23,000 Oregonians participated last year – are a way for citizens to peacefully express their concerns about out-of-control government spending, more government control of private lives, and the crushing debt burden we are creating for our children and grandchildren. We invite all Oregonians who are fed up with oppressive government to join us on April 15.”

“Threats of disruption or illegal activity from those on the Left are precisely what is expected,” Kropf continued. “People like Jason Levin are unable to debate the issues of the day in a rational fashion – despite being a public school employee – and so must resort to ‘street theater,’ lies and disruption. Most troubling is Mr. Levin’s call on Leftists to attempt to collect personal information – such as Social Security numbers – from Tea Party attendees in what could be a prelude to attempted identity theft. Federal law prohibits the use of Social Security numbers except in certain circumstances, and AFP will work with the Social Security Administration to ensure that Mr. Levin’s intentions in this matter are investigated. AFP urges all Tea Party attendees to refuse to give personal information to anyone they don’t know, and to report any request for their Social Security number to their AFP Chapter Leader immediately.”
Kropf also urged AFP Members to take photos or video of any person who attempts to disrupt a Tea Party. AFP Chapters across Oregon are working with local law enforcement to ensure the constitutional rights of all are protected.
