Lars Larson: Pennsylvania’s tax authorities are “creepy”

If you look up the word “creepy” in the dictionary I’m pretty sure you’re going to find that ad made by the state of Pennsylvania about tax amnesty.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with tax amnesty plans. I’d like to see everybody pay their share. If some people fall behind they could be persuaded to pay what they owe by having their penalty forgiven. The library used to do that for me as a kid. Now I’d like to see it done for some folks as adults.

But that’s not what Pennsylvania is doing. Pennsylvania has put together a television ad essentially saying, “We’re surveilling you from space. We know where your house is, where your car is and the name of your dog. If you don’t pay what you owe, we know where you live.”

I’ve had enough of “big brother” in this country under Barack Obama. We don’t need this kind of nonsense, even if it gets people to do the right thing and pay up there taxes.
