New Scott Bruun TV Ad counters Schrader attack

By Scott Bruun campaign,

WEST LINN, Ore. – Today State Rep. Scott Bruun, candidate for Congress in Oregon’s 5th district, released a new television advertisement setting the record straight on Social Security. Bruun’s latest advertisement, “Seen, ” also brings attention to first-term incumbent Democrat Kurt Schrader’s record of voting for $500 billion in Medicare cuts. The advertisement can be found here. “Kurt Schrader wants to have it both ways,” Alee Lockman, Scott Bruun for Congress spokeswoman, stated. “He wants to mask his own record of hurting seniors with $500 billion in Medicare cuts by resorting to false attacks about his opponent. The fact of the matter is that Scott Bruun has a clear record of supporting seniors and will fight for reforms that protect Social Security for all generations.”

Script for Bruun TV ad, “Seen”

SCOTT BRUUN: I’m Scott Bruun, and I approve this message. Have you seen this ad?

MAN IN AD: If Bruun had his way…

WOMAN IN AD: I’d be out on the street.

SCOTT BRUUN: That ad is not true. Kurt Schrader is just trying to scare seniors. I do not support cutting Social Security, and Schrader knows it.

VOICEOVER: The Kurt Schrader record. $500 billion in cuts to Medicare and Medicare Advantage. Schrader’s vote threatens thousands of Oregon seniors and their access to their current coverage. Kurt Schrader: a record that hurts Oregon.

Bruun is running for the seat currently held by first-term Democrat Congressman Kurt Schrader. A member of the House Budget Committee, Schrader has proven himself a reliable supporter of House Democrat leadership, voting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over 97 percent of the time.

Scott Bruun is a businessman and three-term Oregon legislator. Bruun and his wife of 16 years, Alison, have two young daughters and live in Clackamas County. They are active in local charitable, sports and church activities.

Repeating the claim made against you is probably not a wise strategy. But beyond that, what does”

“will fight for reforms that protect Social Security for all generations” mean exactly Scott? Reform is a great, non committal word. Could mean anything from privatization to raising taxes sufficiently to pay for benefits delivered. Which is it?

Scott seems deeply into broken calculator Republicanomics. Promise benefits won’t be cut, promise taxes will be cut, and promise a balanced budget. Never mind this does not add up.

Good work, it’s pleasure to read your articles. Waiting for more

Glad to see a Republican who doesn’t let the opposition get a free pass when they tell lies about their opponent.

I have no dog in this fight, but it’s quite entertaining to see who’s fighting these days against cuts to Social Security and Medicare. And to think that at one time they claimed to be budget balancers! To say nothing of protectors of the original Constitution. They wouldn’t say that now. Would they?
