Congress poll: Bruun 45%, Schrader 44%

From The Washington Post:
“The National Republican Congressional Committee’s independent expenditure unit is coming out with new polls in four key districts, all showing the races virtually tied. … state Rep. Scott Bruun (R) 45 percent, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) 44 percent”

I guess Schrader’s lie are backfiring on him.

Is there an independent poll and what does it say?

I remember once hearing of a local Republican poll that said Jim Feldkamp was within 1% of DeFazio. And then Feldkamp got slaughtered in the election.

i haven’t seen any independent poling on this race, but the internal Deomcratic polls have Shrader up by double digits. One poll that might be independent but I think is Republican affiliated has Shrader up 8, and indicates most people have never heard of Bruun.

This should be a race the Republicans can win. Its an evenly split district. But even in a strong Republican year Bruun does not seem to be getting anywhere.

It’s not that so much as the fact that he voted for ObamaCare, a piece of
legislation that he didn’t even read and didn’t care to know about except
that he thought the dems would stay in power and he needed to be on
the wave, and never mind that health care in this country will go
down the toilet (not his, tho’) because of this bill, unless it’s repealed.

For that reason alone, he needs to be removed from office.

He’s the Jim Bunn of the Demo Party, i.e. someone who gets elected
to Dist Five and is so dumb and arrogant that he gets booted after
one or two terms when someone with half a brain could turn the
    job into a lifetime one.

This is one of those races that signifies the trouble Democrats are in this year.

Oregon is about as safe a state for Democrats as one could ask, even in a fairly independent district like this one. So why is there any question for them in this race?

When you have an incumbent Democrat who is a party line voter who has to outspend his opponent three to one to win a race in Oregon, that tells you a lot about the popularity of the Democrats agenda.

Wus district is not “safe” and never has been. Its evenly split, like Shrader’s. And Wu is hardly an all start Democrat. He has had weak opponents for years. Maybe his time has run out.

    *Bob T:*

It’s been relatively safe for a long time, even when in it previous shape for Les AuCoin.
Wu has benefitted by more people willing to vote for the candidate with a “D” after
the name than the other way around. He’s benefitted from the advantage of incumbency.
If the district was evenly split, he’d be trailing 57-43 in polls by now.

    *Bob T:*

Goli Ameri was hardly a weak candidate. Even some-time Dem candidate and partisan Marc Abrams says that Ameri was just fine and that Wu is nothing special, so if the district was “evenly split” Wu
would have been booted some time ago. There’s something else at play here.

Cap and Trade, Obama Care. Is District 5 going to put up with these obamanations? There is no money to be made betting on the intelligence of Oregonians.

  • Henry B.

Bob is right. I live in District 1, and it has been hard for any GOP candidate to rear their head. Cornilles is a better candidate than even Ameri, but Wu has a propaganda machine unmatched by anything I’ve ever seen. He also is in bed with the wealthiest business owners who happen to throw fundraisers for him.
