Democrats: White Males Need Not Apply

Fresh off his loss to the most disliked member of the United States Senate – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Robert (Beto) O’Rourke (D-TX) announced his candidacy for the Democrat nomination for President of the United States. (“Beto” is the Spanish diminutive for Roberto.) There was an initial gush from the mainstream media who generally serve as publicists for the Democrat Party – this was John F. Kennedy reborn as a Texas politician. This was Barack Obama reborn as a Texas Hispanic. This was the dream candidate that would carry the Democrats back to the White House. It was more a scene from the teenage crush series that the Walt Disney studios produced in the Mickey Mouse Club. (Do you remember Annette Funicello or Spin and Marty?) The chants from the talking heads were “Beto, Beto, Beto. Oh my God, it’s Beto.”

But then some buzzkiller at CNN pointed out that Mr. O’Rourke was not only not Hispanic but that with all of the women and persons of color already running, why would Democrats want to support Beto – the product of “white privilege.” Whoa! In a party ruled by identity politics that was the proverbial spear to the heart. Not only was Mr. O’Rourke a white male product of white privilege but he had engaged in cultural misappropriation by seizing the name “Beto” as if he was Hispanic. But Mr. O’Rourke was not to be deterred. He responded forcefully by apologizing for being white, male and a product of white privilege. What a retort, Beto. Shades of Barack Obama. That ought to show them what kind of leader you are.

But that is the essence of the Democrat Party, at least on a national level. Despite the Democrat leadership in both the House and the Senate being held by an aging and wealthy white female and male respectively, those leaders and the other Democrats roundly criticize white males, products of white privilege, as being the warp and the woof of all that is wrong with America. For the longest time you could not be elected to high office as a Democrat unless you supported taxpayer funded abortion on demand. Now you must add to that list the condemnation of white males and white privilege. So if you are a Democrat and a white male, your job is to show up, sit up, shut up and pay up. Just ask Howard Schultz and now Mr. O’Rourke.

And in this entire excruciating 24-hour passionate love affair turned to denunciation and revulsion, not one question was asked about Mr. O’Rourke’s qualifications or accomplishments. I rejected identify politics years ago and, therefore, in the pursuit of an informed electorate I have listed Mr. O’Rourke’s qualifications and accomplishments:

•  He can ride a skateboard across a stage.

The next time we see Mr. O’Rourke he will be curled in the fetal position in some Irish pub in Austin whimpering about how cruelly God has treated him by making him white, male and a product of white privilege. And the next time we see Mr. Schultz he will be laid out on the floor of a Starbucks next to the Seattle monorail with high heel marks up and down his Nordstrom suit. That’s what you get for being a Democrat when you lack the proper chromosomes in an identity laden political party.
