Senator Girod: School Liability Protection Bill

Republican Leader Statement on Passage of School Liability Protection Bill

State Senator Fred Girod,

SALEM, Ore.– Senate Republican Leader Fred Girod (R-Lyons) carried House Bill 4402, the school liability protection bill, on the Senate Floor.

The bill shields schools and staff from liability for claims related toCOVID-19, and it protects whistleblowers who file complaints during the pandemic.

Senate Republican Leader Fred Girod (R-Lyons) issued the following statement: “This bill is a needed first step to get schools reopened. Education for Oregon kids needs to be prioritized. The next steps should be bumping educators further ahead in line for COVID-19 vaccinations to get Oregon kids back in the classroom even sooner. We need to open our schools and let people go back to work that are home taking care of their kids.”
