Dems move to block Nearman from replacing himself

By NW Spotlight,

In near record speed, Democrat lawmaker, Marty Wilde has written a new bill to stop recently expelled lawmaker, Mike Nearman, from being appointed to his vacant seat.   HB 3413 reads Prohibits person who has previously been expelled from Legislative Assembly from being appointed to fill vacancy in office of state Senator or state Representative.”

In on going abuse of the Oregon emergency clauses, HB 3413 declares an “emergency” and would be implemented immediately upon passage.

The legality of Nearman being reappointed currently has been debated and was spelled out in a 12 question legal memo dated June 10, 2021 on the issues surrounding the whole controversy.  You can read the memo here.
