Sen. Boquist: Brown gets roasted, virus variant, more

By Oregon State Senator Brian Boquist,
Highlights, excerpts from Sen. Boquist newsletter

— Comedy break: This comedian roasts Gov. Kate Brown’s horrifying holiday mask from last year at the 15:30 minute mark.

— A federal judge directed the Oregon State Hospital to admit two patients who alleged the hospital violated their constitutional rights by delaying their admission due to COVID-19 restrictions.

— On December 1, the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is set to begin hearing arguments in a court case that could kick abortion policy regulation to the states. Called Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the lawsuit is a response to a Mississippi law seeking to ban abortions after 15 weeks, when an unborn baby can feel pain.  In Oregon, the most likely outcome of this decision would leave current laws intact because Oregon does not have any legal protections for a developing human at any stage before birth.

— Speculation that Brown dropped the outdoor mask mandate to avoid Civil War game blowback. Oregon is one of the last 5 states in the country with an indoor mask mandate.

— Realtors sue Oregon for (nation’s only) ban on homeowners love letters.

— Facebook grants government of Afghanistan (aka Taliban) limited posting rights. The Taliban is banned from posting on the platform, but this is just the perfect workaround. DELETE FACEBOOK. The Hill is actually pretending that Afghanistan women can “lead” under Taliban leadership. Afghan Girl from 1985 National Geographic cover takes refuge in Italy.

— In February 2021, WSJ reported that the Pfizer vaccine was effective against the “South African variant”. Makes the recent arrest of this couple especially stupid if the vaccine is working.
